Which of the following is true about DNA?

Which of the following is true about DNA?

A.

It is a single-stranded molecule.

B.

Only one of the original DNA strands acts as a template during replication.

C.

Both of the original DNA strands act as templates during replication.

D.

Its replication takes place in the cytosol.

Which of the following is true about DNA?
C is the only one that is always true. (Look up semi-conservative replication if you want more information, particularly the Meselson-Stahl experiment.)

A is true mostly for viruses, but not other organisms.

B is not true for double-stranded DNA.

D is true in prokaryotes since they have no nucleus, but is not true in eukaryotes.
Reply:A.

It is a single-stranded molecule
Reply:c and d
Reply:c. Both of the original DNA strands acts as a template during replication.
Reply:b- for Eukaryotic DNA
Reply:B ... gosh it's been years though since I've studied this! lol
Reply:C.

Both of the original DNA strands act as templates during replication.
Reply:A:False. DNA is a double stranded helix. (Besides, if it were true than statements B and C would be pointless)

B:True Only one of the strands needs to be copied as the other strand is a complement so any of the strands would do.

C:False. See above.

D: I dont know sorry.
Reply:c or d? but i'm thinking d
Reply:b c and d
Reply:C is the Correct Answer!!!
Reply:A. It's a single-stranded molecule.
Reply:The answer your teacher wants is "C."

D is true for prokaryotes but not for eukaryotes.
Reply:All of the statements are true - but it depends upon the circumstances.

A. Some viruses do have single -stranded DNA. The best example is "parvovirus" - the type of virus you would be worried about if you had dogs or cats.

B. If single-stranded to begin with (see above), then only one strand can be replicated at a time.

C. If DNA is double-stranded (= "normal" DNA, the type found in our cells), then both strands will be replicated. IF YOUR TEACHER IS INSISTING ON ONE CORRECT ANSWER - this is it !!

D. Since bacteria do not have a nucleus, DNA replication, for them, does take place in the cytosol.
